Learn About Our Holistic Care Approach
Our effective, long-term approach addresses the “whole” person. This type of therapy integrates spiritual, physical, mental, and emotional forms of well-being. We help individuals develop a deeper understanding of themselves on all levels. Our exceptional success rate sets us apart from other recovery centers because our long-term program gives the brain the opportunity to heal, but that is only the beginning.
1. The Root Cause Of Addiction
The real cause of addiction isn’t the abuse of drugs and alcohol, along with other destructive behaviors. There’s generally a different symptom of something beneath the surface. In order to recover permanently, the real cause of the addiction must be treated. The cause is what drives a person to drugs and alcohol in the first place. It is almost always some underlying issues that make an individual unable to be content with life as it is.
2. Healing The Brain
The process of healing takes time. For the brain to function at optimum performance it requires at least 2 years of treatment and it can take up to five years. This is why we recommend a minimum stay of two years. This is the best investment in time that a struggling addict can ever make.

We offer the best drug and alcohol addiction treatment. Here’s our holistic approach to care:
Physically
Students are required to achieve and maintain good physical health by respecting their bodies. Good personal hygiene, exercise, proper sleep, and eating balanced meals all contribute to a sound physical body.
Mentally
Healing begins by making mental health a top priority. Students are taught to think for themselves as opposed to following along or taking the easy way out. They are encouraged to think positively and to be assertive.
Educationally
Students expand their knowledge through educational workshops on computer skills, literacy, current events, music, debating, legal matters, and resume building. They are encouraged to positively feed the brain.
Emotionally
Learning to acknowledge and overcome negative reactions and develop a healthy approach to challenging situations is a main focus. Students learn to understand, control, and express their emotions in positive ways.
Socially
Students are constantly involved in social activities where learning to engage in acceptable and meaningful interactions becomes a regular practice. They’re taught how to set boundaries, communicate effectively, and get along with others in a positive manner.
Spiritually
The John Volken Academy Ranch acknowledges that one’s beliefs may lend strength, perseverance, and motivation through the recovery process. While the program is not faith-based, students are encouraged to explore and develop spiritually.
