What is hydrotherapy?
Hydrotherapy is a low impact, water resistance based form of exercise that helps improve the musculoskeletal system in horses. The uses for this include the aid in the healing of athletic injuries, conditioning, muscle toning, improving a horse’s range of movement, and many more benefits! This works because of the buoyancy of the water combined with the distribution of weight centered towards the hind legs due to the resistance of the water. Creating less stress on the front legs and hooves and improving lumbar and hind quarter muscle support. A great way to keep a horse conditioned if riding is not an option!

A Therapeutic Experience!
At the John Volken Academy Ranch, each horse can spend up to 20 minutes in our full scale 150’ x 8’ x6’ equine hydrotherapy pool. The pool is cleaned daily and all horses are rinsed before entering the pool and again immediately afterwards. We have a few different packages for sale for haul-in customers, current boarders, or individuals looking for hydrotherapy with boarding packages. Each package with boarding includes our excellent full care service with access to all of the JVA ranch amenities.
